📖 The Story of Prophet Yunus (AS) – Simplified for Kids

Who Was Prophet Yunus (AS)?

Prophet Yunus (AS) was a messenger sent by Allah to guide the people of Nineveh. He told them to stop worshipping idols and believe in Allah (SWT), but they did not listen to him.

The Journey and the Big Fish

Prophet Yunus (AS) felt very sad and left the city without Allah’s permission. He boarded a ship, but soon a big storm came. The people on the ship thought they needed to throw someone overboard to save the ship. They drew lots, and Prophet Yunus’s name came up. He was thrown into the sea, and a big fish (a whale) swallowed him!

Inside the Belly of the Whale

Inside the dark belly of the whale, Prophet Yunus (AS) realized his mistake. He made a special dua:

“La ilaha illa anta, subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimeen.”
(There is no god but You, Glory be to You! Indeed, I have been one of the wrongdoers.)

Allah forgave him and commanded the whale to release him safely onto the shore.

Back to the People

After that, Prophet Yunus (AS) returned to the people of Nineveh. This time, they believed in Allah. They became good people who worshipped Him.

Moral of the Story: Always listen to Allah, never give up, and make dua when you’re in trouble.
