🚶 Prophet Musa Grows Up
As Prophet Musa (AS) grew older, he became known for his strength, wisdom, and sense of justice. After a challenging event forced him to leave Egypt, he traveled to a place called Madyan. There, he helped two women at a well, demonstrating kindness and responsibility. Their father recognized his character and later offered Musa (AS) his daughter in marriage. Musa spent several years in Madyan working as a shepherd, living a life of simplicity and patience.
🧑🏫 Teaching Steps for Educators:
- Explain how Prophet Musa’s time in Madyan was part of his preparation. It shows that prophets often go through long periods of growth and learning before their mission begins.
- Discuss the traits seen in this part of the story: helpfulness, humility, and service to others.
- Ask students: What are some ways we can show kindness and responsibility in our own lives?
💡 Teaching Point: Even before being chosen as a prophet, Musa (AS) showed excellent character. This teaches us that true leadership begins with being sincere, patient, and helpful.
🔥 The Sacred Call
After years in Madyan, Musa (AS) returned to Egypt with his family. On the way, he saw a glowing fire on Mount Tur. When he approached it, Allah (SWT) called out to him in a powerful and sacred moment:
“O Musa, I am your Lord. Take off your shoes. You are in the sacred valley of Tuwa. And I have chosen you, so listen carefully to what I say.”
— Surah Ta-Ha (20:11–13)
This was the beginning of his prophethood. Allah (SWT) gave Musa two clear miracles: his staff turned into a snake, and his hand shone with bright light. These were signs to support his message and show people that he was truly sent by Allah.
🧑🏫 Teaching Steps for Educators:
- Read the verse together and reflect on how powerful this moment must have been.
- Clarify that miracles are not magic tricks—they are special signs given by Allah to help prophets guide people.
- Ask students: Why do you think Allah gives miracles to prophets?
💡 Teaching Point: Allah chooses His messengers with wisdom. He gives them clear signs to help others recognize the truth and believe in His message.
🗣️ The Mission to Pharaoh
After receiving revelation, Prophet Musa (AS) was given a great mission from Allah: to return to Egypt and deliver a powerful message to Pharaoh. He was told to call Pharaoh to worship Allah alone and to demand the freedom of Bani Israel, who were suffering under Pharaoh’s harsh rule. Musa (AS) felt afraid and uncertain about how he would fulfill this mission, especially since he had once fled Egypt. He worried about his speech and whether Pharaoh would listen to him. So, Prophet Musa (AS) made a heartfelt dua to Allah, asking for help:
“O my Lord, open my chest for me, and make my task easy for me, and untie the knot from my tongue so that they may understand my speech. And appoint for me a helper from my family—Haroon, my brother.”
— Surah Ta-Ha (20:25–30)
In His mercy, Allah accepted Musa’s dua and made Haroon (AS) a prophet too. Haroon (AS) was chosen to support Musa (AS) in this mission, especially in speaking to Pharaoh. He was known for being clear in speech and calm in character. Together, the two brothers set out to confront the greatest tyrant of their time with a message of truth and mercy.
Despite seeing many signs and miracles, Pharaoh remained arrogant. He refused to believe in Allah and continued to harm Bani Israel. But Musa (AS) and Haroon (AS) remained patient, strong, and committed to their mission.
🧑🏫 Teaching Steps for Educators:
- Read the dua of Prophet Musa (AS) with your students and reflect on how even prophets asked Allah for help.
- Explain how Haroon (AS) was appointed as a prophet to support his brother, and how their teamwork was part of Allah’s plan.
- Ask students: How can we support each other in doing good things? What does this story teach us about asking Allah for help?
💡 Teaching Point: Allah responds to sincere duas. This part of the story teaches us about the value of family, working together, and seeking help from Allah in difficult situations.
🌊 The Great Escape and the Miracle of the Sea
Eventually, Allah instructed Musa (AS) to lead the people of Bani Israel out of Egypt during the night. They obeyed and left quietly, but Pharaoh soon found out and chased after them with a massive army. When they reached the Red Sea, the people panicked, thinking they would be captured. But Musa (AS) responded with calm trust:
“No! Indeed, my Lord is with me; He will guide me.”
— Surah Ash-Shu‘ara (26:61–62)
Then, Allah commanded Musa to strike the sea with his staff. Miraculously, the sea parted, creating a dry path for them to walk through. Once they reached the other side, the sea closed back, drowning Pharaoh and his army.
🧑🏫 Teaching Steps for Educators:
- Explain the power of Tawakkul—trusting in Allah even when the situation looks impossible.
- Reflect on how Allah’s help can come in unexpected ways.
- Ask students: What are some moments when we need to trust Allah, even if we feel scared?
💡 Teaching Point: Allah never abandons those who believe in Him. Trusting in Allah gives us strength and peace, especially in difficult times.
